Although we hadn't previously met, Kati quickly put me at ease before before telling me the result of the recent PSA test. The significance of the raised level was discussed and we agreed that a further test should take place after 4 months instead of the usual 6. She also told me that another significant increase could indicate the need for a scan and I accepted that this would be a prudent response. I also mentioned that a previous spike in the PSA level while caring for my wife had dropped substantially when that responsibility ended, and I suggested that the recent spike could be linked to a back injury sustained in mid-July while trying to pull-start a lawnmower. This caused agonising pain when changing position which is only now beginning to subside; and I think it possible that as the stress caused by this episode eases the PSA level will again begin to reduce. In conclusion I felt our time together has been positive, useful and friendly. I have no doubt as to Katie's capability, competence and suitability for her role and I wish her well.

As you see the television advert for Macmillan Nurses saying how wonderful they are, I always thought what they do to warrant that statement. To have seen this first hand is remarkable. To see Consultant and Nurse working closely together and share the treatment and understanding in looking after my Husband is unbelievable. When your appointment is finished and you are left alone with your Nurse, your brain is confused and muddled with questions galore. This is the part where the calmness, kindness and magic comes from your Macmillan Nurses. In our case it's Katie Wass. After the shock of Brian's diagnosis and with Katie's help we will carry on and overcome the enormous problem together. We could not have picked a more understanding Nurse. Thank you Katie for your decision to become a Nurse. xx

I have no hesitation in taking the time to give this very positive feedback. The care I received was second to none. I was treated by this Nurse and the Surgeon with the upmost respect and dignity. The pair worked together as a true team, taking time to listen to my view and history and answered all my questions fully. The Nurse gave me full support and had a caring, positive attitude. I feel that if I have any further questions that I could phone this Nurse and that this would not be a problem at all. I have every confidence in the abilities, knowledge, expertise and professionalism of this Nurse. I truly cannot think of how my care on this occasion could have been better.
